VKPP officially joins College of Policing
The Vulnerability Knowledge and Practice Programme (VKPP) has officially merged with the College of Policing, marking a pivotal moment in the journey toward ensuring the safety and wellbeing of society. With this integration, 51 new colleagues joined the College of Policing on April 2nd, bringing with them a wealth of expertise, passion, and skills that are set to enhance the organisation's reputation and capabilities.
CEO of the College of Policing, Andy Marsh, expressed his enthusiasm about the collaboration, emphasising the importance of supporting policing to reduce crime and maintain public safety.
“I’m extremely pleased to be welcoming the skills, knowledge and insight of the VKPP into the College of Policing. At a time when it is essential for the College to be supporting and enabling policing to rebuild the trust and confidence of our public, it is right that we are expanding and bringing in additional people, with proven experience, to contribute to the evidence base of what works and makes a difference in policing vulnerability.”
Gareth Edwards, Programme Director of VKPP, echoed Marsh's sentiment, highlighting the shared mission to improve the policing response to vulnerability.
"As a programme, we are delighted that we are able to formally join with the College of Policing, it is a move that enhances our mission to coordinate and improve the policing response to vulnerability by bringing additional expertise, opportunities, and traction to both organisations."
The VKPP, previously hosted and supported by Norfolk Constabulary since its inception in 2018, has seen significant growth in scope and ambition over the years. With the transition to the College of Policing, the VKPP aims to further enhance its impact in the vulnerability space nationally. This move is part of a broader ambition within the College to professionalise public protection and drive effective evidence-based responses to vulnerability.
The integration of VKPP into the College enriches the collective expertise and capabilities of the organisation. The College's values of collaboration, innovation, openness, and inclusiveness remain unwavering. Both organisations share a vision of improving the response to vulnerability, reducing threat and harm, and increasing trust and confidence, especially for victims.
Looking ahead, the College of Policing anticipates combining efforts, exchanging insights, and co-creating solutions with the VKPP team. Together, they have the opportunity to set new standards for excellence in policing, ensuring a safer and more secure environment for all members of society.
